Why This Matters

Every supplier says "we work with everyone." Most of them are wrong, and that wastes everyone's time. SUNWARD INDUSTRY is built for a specific kind of customer: mid-sized veterinary pharmaceutical buyers whose China sourcing is still developing. This post is the honest version of who fits, who doesn't, and why being clear about it saves both of us weeks of emails.

1. The Single Most Important Statement on This Site

I want to put the most important sentence in this whole site up top, because the wrong-fit customer wastes more time than any other single variable in my business.

"As a trading company, we are not built to serve very large companies, and we are not built to serve companies that already have deep supply chain relationships in China. We serve mid-sized buyers whose China sourcing is still developing — the companies who need a stabilizer, not a broker."

If after reading that you are sure you do not fit, please go find a supplier who does. The Chinese B2B chemical space has hundreds of suppliers with different models. SUNWARD is one specific kind — and we are at our best for one specific kind of buyer.

2. Who We Work With — And Why

Let me describe the buyers we work best with. The common thread is: you have a real business that needs China supply, but you are not yet at the scale where you build your own China team.

Mid-sized veterinary pharmaceutical companies

Annual China-sourced API volume in the $200K to $5M range. You have a procurement team (maybe 1-3 people), but you do not have a China office. You have real volumes, real recurring needs, and real interest in a long-term supply partnership.

Buyers new to China sourcing (under 3 years)

You have done some trial orders. You are still learning which factories are reliable. You want a partner who has been through the learning curve already, so you do not have to repeat it from scratch. The 1 FCL trial order is a familiar rhythm for you.

Compounders and formulators who need a supplement

You have a primary supplier that works well. You want a second source for risk management, or you need a specific product your primary factory does not make. We are not built to replace your existing supplier — we are built to make your supply chain more resilient.

Buyers with strict documentation requirements

Your market (or your customer) requires full GMP documentation, batch-specific COA, MSDS, market-specific compliance. This is where reading every COA against your specification saves you the most time. We have done the work of building documentation into our standard process, not as an add-on.

Geographic markets we actively serve

Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Brazil, and other mid-volume markets. We do not actively target very large markets (US, EU-15) where the regulatory and volume requirements are different. Mid-sized markets are our sweet spot.

3. Who We Are Not a Fit For — And Why

Here is the honest list. If you are on it, please find a different supplier — we are not the right answer for you, and it is better to be direct about that now than after months of emails.

Large multinational pharmaceutical companies

You need factory-direct contracts with audited supply chains, dedicated regulatory affairs teams in China, and infrastructure that a Hong Kong trading company cannot deliver. The major global distributors (Univar, Brenntag, IMCD, Azelis) are the right answer for you. We are not.

Buyers with established China supply chains

If you already have 3+ Chinese factory relationships you trust, you do not need a stabilizer. You might need a backup supplier for one specific product, but the conversation will be very different from a typical engagement with us. We are not a substitute for a China team you have already built.

Single-batch one-off buyers

If you want a 1 FCL trial, fine, we will do it. But if you have no realistic plan for a recurring relationship, the time we invest in understanding your needs, your documentation requirements, and your quality standards will be wasted. A one-off order through Alibaba is a better answer for one-off buyers.

Buyers who need factory-direct contracts

If your procurement policy requires you to sign with the actual manufacturer (not a trading company), we cannot be your primary supplier. We can introduce you to the factory, but the commercial relationship will be factory-direct from there. That is a valid model — just not ours.

Buyers in markets we do not actively serve

Some markets have regulatory or volume profiles we are not optimized for. If you are in a market where we have not done business before, ask. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit, or whether a regional trading company with local presence will serve you better.

4. Product Boundaries — What We Can and Cannot Source

The same honest logic applies to our product range. The 34 products on our catalog represent where we have both strong factory relationships and competitive pricing. The real capability is larger than the catalog.

Concretely, here is how we think about it:

✅ What we can quote

  • Any product in our catalog
  • Products where we have a strong factory relationship (broader than catalog — ask)
  • Custom specifications on standard products (USP, EP, custom COA specs)
  • Standard packaging (1 FCL drum, 50kg drum, custom labels)

❌ What we typically cannot quote

  • Products where we have no factory relationship and no short-term path to one
  • Highly specialized or proprietary compounds (R&D quantities, custom synthesis)
  • Products requiring regulatory pre-approval in your market that we cannot support
  • Extremely low-volume specialty items (under 100kg/year, no recurring demand)

The rule of thumb: if a product is on our catalog or close to a product on the catalog, we can probably quote it. If it is in a completely different category, the answer is probably no — and we will suggest who to contact instead.

5. The Self-Selection Question

Before you reach out, ask yourself these three questions:

  1. Is my annual China-sourced API volume between $200K and $5M? If yes, we are likely a fit on size. If you are below $200K, the relationship economics will not work for either of us. If you are above $5M, you probably need your own China team.
  2. Am I either new to China sourcing, or in the mid-sized markets we serve? If yes, we are likely a fit on geography and maturity. If you have 3+ years of established China relationships, you do not need us as a primary partner.
  3. Is the product I need in or close to our catalog categories? If yes, we can probably quote. If it is in a different category altogether, we will redirect you to the right supplier.

If all three answers point to fit, send us your product and quantity. If any of them point to not-fit, save us both the time and look for a different supplier. We will not be offended.

A practical note: The fastest way to find out if we are a fit is a 5-minute email with three lines: your product, your quantity, and your destination country. We will tell you within two business days whether we are the right answer, and if not, where to look instead.
